Wingra Boats - Frequently Asked Questions
- When are you open? Our season begins in May and ends in September. We are open weekends only in May and September. We are open 7 days a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Rentals start at 9am at Wingra, 10am at Vilas. Rentals end at 7pm at both locations. Boats must be off the water by 8pm.
- How much do boats cost? Our boats are available for rent at very affordable prices so the whole family can come down and enjoy a day on the lake. See our Rentals page for the complete breakdown.
- Do you take reservations? We encourage groups renting 6 or more boats to make a reservation. Otherwise, rentals are on a first come, first serve basis for groups or individuals renting fewer than 6 boats - but with over 100 boats to rent, your desired craft will always be available shortly, if not immediately.
- Do you have refreshments? We have brats, hot dogs, sausages, quesadillas, chips, sweets, ice cream and all manner of non-alcoholic beverages.
- Are life vests and paddles included? Yes. Everything you need to get out and be safe on the water is included in the boat rental.
- Is alcohol allowed? No. You are not allowed to drink on the water or while operating any of our boats. We reserve the right to deny rentals if we feel anyone in your party is intoxicated.
- Are pets allowed? If you feel the pet will not endanger itself, your party, or anyone else, they are more than welcome to come along.
- Is the water clean? Lake Wingra is Madison’s most pristine lake. Over 85% of its coastline is protected land. The lake is spring fed from many points on the south- and southwest shores. You will find the water clean, cool, and refreshing.
