About Wingra Boats

Wingra Boats has enjoyed providing the Madison community with fun, safe, and inexpensive outdoor entertainment since the 1950s. We have grown from a couple of canoes to a rental fleet of over 100 boats of all types since then. We now rent canoes, kayaks, rowboats, paddle boats, small and large sailboats, rowing shells, windsurfers, paddle boards, a pontoon boat, inner tubes, swim rafts, and fishing poles. Wingra Boats provides several additional services to make accessing beautiful Lake Wingra easier - we offer both group and individual sailing lessons, private dockage, boat repair, and party and event hosting.

‘Uniquely Natural in the Heart of Madison’?
Wingra Boats, located in Wingra Park, is one of the few access points to the beautiful 345 acre Lake Wingra. Over 85% of lake’s shore line is protected by the UW Madison Arboretum, as well as Wingra Park and Vilas Beach. No gas powered boats are allowed on weekends and wake is never allowed, making it an ideal place for small boats. The lake also has a number of inlets and lagoons that play host to a flourishing ecosystem. The seasons bring us herons, ospreys, cranes, turtles, water lilies, and all manner of fish. Known for its abundance of muskellunge, Lake Wingra is also a great lake for fishing.

Wingra Boats provides a fun environment that makes it easy to spend time with loved ones, or for a personal retreat into nature. Wingra Boats focuses on providing safe, healthy recreation for all. The lake offers unmatched scenery and Wingra’s staff offers unmatched service. We hope you will visit us soon!
