STAFF

Tyler Leeper
Tyler is a native to Madison and has been a part of Wingra Canoe & Sailing Center for over 7 years. His earliest childhood memories include swimming in ponds, fishing on Mendota and hanging under the trampoline of a Hobi 16' on Lake Michigan. His passion for nature and anything water related has led him to focusing his efforts on making it easier and more enjoyable to access the incredible natural resources that are often right in people's back yards.

About the Lake

Lake Wingra is approximately 345 acres, and measures twenty feet at its deepest point. In the center, however, it is only 10-15 feet deep. Over 80% of the lake is surrounded by the UW Arboretum. With no motors allowed on weekends and no wake ever allowed it is a peaceful and scenic place to spend an afternoon. Lake Wingra boasts some of the largest fish in the area. It's known for large musky, as well as medium-sized pan fish. Wingra Park provides a fantastic recreation area, including a basketball court, soccer field, picnic tables, a playground, and plenty of room for frisbee, bocci ball, or tanning.
